Hydrogen Peroxide for maintenance of bathroom sinks

October 28th, 2011

As I was cleaning our double sink in our master bathroom, I noticed one thing in particular, why was my husband’s sink have quite a bit of build up as opposed to mine?

The only thing different is that I use hydrogen peroxide mixed with water in my waterpik every night to rinse my mouth after teeth brushing. Another alternative is to rinse the mouth with a 50/50 mix of hydrogen peroxide and water. This makes sense because hydrogen peroxide has debridement properties and does react with organic matter.

What a cheap and affordable way to prevent your bathroom sink from clogging!

Reuse those square glass vases

I saved a couple to reuse one as a cosmetic brush holder and another for a tiny indoor succulents garden that sits on top of our fireplace. These short square vases were originally from our wedding florist for centerpieces were for our wedding.

Cilantro and Green Onion: Herbs to keep around the home

September 14th, 2011

During the week after work, keeping fresh cilantro and green onion on hand in the fridge makes a refreshing herb to sprinkle on your stir fry (whether it be Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, etc). These herbs do add the fresh, finishing touches to a dish.

If you love guacamole, then a little cilantro is a must at the end to liven it up.

Flavorful yet healthy instant oatmeal

June 26th, 2011

Instant plain oatmeal, how can you make it taste good?

Well, I’ve been doing this for years, and finally perfected my own recipe since I practically eat it almost on a daily basis. People who usually don’t eat oatmeal have told me that it’s much better than they way they make oatmeal!

Ingredients for serving of one:
instant oatmeal in the canister (1/2 cup as on directions)
brown sugar (1 teaspoon)
cinnamon powder sprinkled
Milk (1 cup as on directions of instant oatmeal canister)

Add all dry ingredients together, add milk, then microwave as directed

Spoon in nut butter (I enjoy creamy version peanut butter) right after oatmeal cooked when it’s still quite warm to melt the nut butter.

Sprinkle some dried fruit of your choice (I enjoy dried cranberries)

The nut butter adds creaminess that people do not realize!
Enjoy!

Review of Stella & Dot Jewelry (Spring-Summer Theme)

June 26th, 2011

For the warmer seasons, I felt that I wanted to update my jewelry. I purchased online from my friend who is a stylist for Stella & Dot Jewelry. Both the necklace and earrings came from their “classic” collection. The necklace I do adore with the small collection of pendants of a starfish, starfish print which gives that beach theme. The earrings are white with gold around it and would go with anything nautical theme or for light colored clothing. I will say that the quality is better than I anticipated. Check out this line if you’re looking for something a little different.

Tip: Quick and healthy way to prepare fish

May 27th, 2011

Lately I’ve been trying to make an effort to eat fish at least once a week for the past few weeks, not fried, not canned fish, but whole fish fillets that you buy from the butcher. The latest health article did some research supposedly it’s the whole baked fish as opposed to those who ate fried fish or took fish oil omega 3 supplements that had better outcomes.

Broil (not bake) the fish at 450 degrees Farenheit for at 6 minutes it’s half an inch thick. Broil a little less or more depending on the thickness, do your research ahead of time if you’re not sure. If you cook too long it will be dry on the outside, if too short due to it’s thickness, then some parts will be slightly raw.

For our oven it takes no time for it to reach this temperature so it eliminate any preheating time!

If you use Brianna’s Mandarin Ginger Dressing to coat it with it gives a nice flavor and coat as well.

Good luck to healthy eating!

Review of Ole Henriksen Truth Serum

May 13th, 2011

I’d been using for this a month and I think it’s worth trying out. If you can try the smaller size, then check it out either at Ole Henriksen, Sephora, or Amazon. The serum’s consistency is alittle more tacky compared to Philosophy’s Hope Is Not Enough Serum along with an orange color and fruity, orange scent. If you’re into natural brand products you might appreciate it.
